Описание
Offsite – Theory and Practice of Architectural Production
“Offsite – Theory and Practice of Architectural Production” is the 2012 Fall Conference.
Dates:
September 27-29, 2012.
Submission Deadline: 30th of March, 2012.
Place:
USA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Host School: Temple University
Brief overview:
Prefabrication is considered to be the oldest new conception in constructions, thus it is not surprising that it is still pervading as an ideal. The construction industry is overloaded with litigation, ineffectiveness and wastes. The constructions and designs of buildings are different acts that are sketched contractually and legally determined and observed. The division between construction and design has caused increasing schedule delays and costs, and a decreasing building sustainability and quality due to the architectural conception, engineering optimization and constructing production which are not integrated.
The ACSA Autumn 2012 Conference in connection with the Modular Building Institute Regional Industry Meeting gathers under one roof academics, allied professionals and builders or fabricators to modern current practice and theory at all ranges of building and designing offsite.
The present conference offers the following topics for discussion:
1. Theory:
History of architectural production, modularization and prefabrication.
Production theory and criticism.
Postulation, speculation on future of architectural production.
Parametric modeling and CNC production speculations.
Design case studies, prototypes and experiments.
2. Practice:
Qualitative evaluations of production in architecture.
Quantification: labor, cost, schedule, scope, and sustainability.
Assessing component scales in prefab.
Perceived and actual environmental impacts.
Delivery process and delivery methods.
Digital delivery (i.e. BIM, CNC and workflow).
Case Study evaluations of built works.
3. Education:
Production education.
Design-build.
Design/materials/construction education.
Integrated studios with industry and other disciplines.
Production theory, history and criticism seminars.
